The Next Game will Shape the Season

At the midway point of the season the Thunder are sitting with five wins and six losses and are fifth in the standings. This is the most wins the Thunder have had in a single season since 2005.

At the start of this season managment promised that this would be the the break out season where the fruits of the franchise rebuiling would start to become apparent. In many respects they are right. The team is young and they have a core of talented players who are fun to watch. Reegan Comeault is fourth in the league in scoring and rookie netminder, Ryley Brown is fifth in save percentage. What the team lacks is depth and maturity.

Three years ago team ownership and management set a goal to build a team that could compete for a national championship by 2013. This season marks the third year in the plan. Sunday night at 7:00 PM Thunder play the New Westminster Salmonbellies at the Langely Events Centre. The Thunder have already defeated the Salmonbellies this season. Should the Thunder pick up the second win this weekend, they will reach a winning percentage of .500 this season. Management could then say that the master plan is working and the team is right on track.
