Thunder Pre-Season Ends With Victory
The Langley Jr. A Thunder ended their pre-season schedule with an 11-6 win over the PoCo Saints on Saturday afternoon at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack.
The Chilliwack Minor Lacrosse Association hosted both teams – whose rosters carried a total of 7 players from Chilliwack’s association.
Langley opened quickly with a pair of goals by Ryan Harwood – a hometown boy.
PoCo responded and the first period ended 2-2.
In the second period, PoCo moved into the lead – and Langley was forced to catch up. They did, and led 7- 5 after two periods on additional goals by Travis Koller, Mike King, Kevin Lemond and Scott Davidson (2)
With tempers fraying badly in the third period, the Thunder scored four more: credited to King, Lemond, Jonathan Rakic and Colton Hayes. Poco was held to a single goal in the final period.
A total of 29 penalties were assessed with Langley’s share being 16.
Head coach Jamie Scott pointed to the hard work and determination of the club, “They fought back after getting behind the in the second period.” And added.
“It takes hard work. The guys know and they’re doing it.” said Scott.
The Langley Thunder 2009 season opens Thursday, April 30 in the Langley Events Centre at 7:30 pm – as the Junior’s again host Port Coquitlam.
