Langley Thunder Drops Jr A Contest To Poco Saints

The 10 goals scored by six of the Langley Thunder with a total of 8 assists were just not enough, Wednesday night in Jr. A Lacrosse action.

The improving Langley offense featured the work of two intermediate callups along with veteran Mitch Dibblee who scored a hat trick. Intermediates Max Weselowski and Michael Tebbutt each scored a pair. Colton Porter, Devin Wilson, and Tanner Russell each helped out with singles.

A pair of Poco sharpshooters provided the margin needed to defeat the Langley Thunder 14 - 10 at home at the Langley Events Centre.

Starting with a short-handed goal less than 2 minutes into the game, Poco’s Chris Jones tallied a double hat-trick: 6 goals plus a further three assists for a 9 point night

The Thunder gave Jones and the rest of the Poco offense half a dozen power play goals as they were charged a total of 22 minutes in penalties.

At the other end, Poco’s penalty killing unit successfully held the Thunder power play scoreless for 20 minutes of short-handed play.

Despite the edge in offensive strength, the play was about even in the first period. But Poco broke open the game in the second period as the Langley defense faltered. Poco scored 10 times in the second period with Langley only managing to put in 5.

But without production from the power play, the Thunder couldn’t close the gap.

The loss moves the Thunder to 1 win and 4 losses. They next play at home, Thursday May 21st, meeting the Coquitlam Adanacs for the first time at home in the Langley Events Centre, at 7:30 PM.
