The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) announced today that the Board of Governors has appointed David Goulet of British Columbia as Referee-in-Chief.

Goulet began refereeing in the 1980’s and has refereed the WLA and all levels of lacrosse from local to international. He also has extensive evaluator and leadership experience as the Canadian Lacrosse Association’s referee-in-chief for Men’s field from 2006-2014 and just concluded being a member of the World Lacrosse’s officiating committee (formerly Federation of International Lacrosse) since 2008.

“It is truly an honour to be named Referee-in-Chief for the Western Lacrosse Association,” said Goulet. “This is the league that every young aspiring lacrosse player hopes to be a part of. I hope to continue the good work done by Todd and all previous officials who have held this role.”

“We’re excited to have Dave on-board as the WLA Referee-in-Chief to build upon the foundation established last season by Todd Labranche,” said Commissioner Paul Dal Monte. “Dave is a local guy with years of experience in the game and a strong network of contacts in the lacrosse community.”

The countdown to the 2020 WLA season will begin on February 6th, 2020 at 7pm with the annual Graduating Junior Draft to be webcast live on WLALacrosse.com.
