by Trevor McManus

Langley, BC (June 8, 2017) The Langley Thunder (0-4) lose to the Nanaimo Timbermen (2-2) on Wednesday night, 11-9.

At the five-minute mark of the second period, Langley commanded a 7-3 lead. But the Timbermen went on an 8-2 run which gave them the victory.

The Thunder were without James Rahe, Steve Hay, Charles Claxton, Keegan Rittenger and Adam Will. But found relief in junior call ups Dylan Foulds and Trevor Chernoff. Foulds potted three goals while Chernoff had three goals and two assists.

“I thought the four callups fit in very well with our existing rookies and performed well and did not look out of place,” said Head Coach Darcy Rhodes. “We are building as a team and getting better each practice and each game.”

Fifth overall draft pick Jordan Magnuson made his WLA debut, going 6/19 in the faceoff dot and added one shot on goal. Brandon Clelland also played in his first game of the season and recorded three assists.

“I thought we played well and I think our chemistry will improve as the season goes on,” said Brandon Clelland. “The younger guys really stepped up and filled the holes of some of our missing regulars.”

The Thunder’s homestand continues when they host the Burnaby Lakers on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Tickets to the game are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office at 604-882-8800 or on the Langley Thunder website.
