In a battle of 2-0 teams, it was the host New Westminster Salmonbellies improving to 3-0 in the Western Lacrosse Association standings.
The Langley Thunder hit the road for the first time this season in the WLA's Game of the Week, travelling to Queen's Park Arena in New Westminster wit the host 'Bellies racing out of the gates with a 6-0 first period. And that early deficit was too much to overcome for the Thunder, who fell by a 17-9 final score.
New Westminster improved to 3-0 while Langley saw their record slip to 2-1.
Chase Scanlan led Langley with four goals and six points, earning the game's third star.
Toru Morimatsu, Ben Vanderkley, Kyle Brunsch, Evan Messenger and Finn Halladay had the other Thunder goals with Morimatsu also adding an assist. Langley captain Connor Robinson finished with three helpers.
Kyle Mooney and Colin Jeffrey split the goaltending duties for Langley with each making 22 saves.
On the other side, Justin Geddie went the distance with 37 saves on 46 shots as New Westminster outshot Langley 64-48. Mitch Jones (5-4), Tye Kurtz (2-6) and Will Malcom (3-4) led the Salmonbellies attack.
Next up for the Thunder is a home game on June 4 (7:30pm) at Langley Events Centre against the Burnaby Lakers.
