Church named WLA First Team All-Star
Robert Church’s stellar season has earned him league recognition.
Church was named a Western Lacrosse Association First Team All-Star following a 25-goal, 48-point season for the Langley Thunder. He was second on the team in goals and third in points, but first in points per game with 4.8 as Church suited up in 10 of the team’s 18 regular season games.
“Robert is such a talented offensive player who makes those around him better,” said Thunder coach Ian Poole. “He’s a prime-time player who can be counted on come through in the clutch, either with his shot or his playmaking abilities.”
In mid-July, Church scored five goals in three consecutive games and among players with 25 or more goals, no one in the league had a better shooting percentage than his .272.
This is Church’s third season with Langley and in 40 regular season games in a Thunder uniform, he has 87 goals and 182 points.
With Church leading the offence, the Thunder finished in third place in the WLA standings with a record of 8-9-1.
