Five points apiece for Kulas, Phillips, but Thunder fall short on scoreboard

Matching five-point games from Dante Kulas and Jon Phillips were not enough as the Langley Thunder fell in Maple Ridge on Sunday night.
The Thunder lost 13-6 to the host Burrards at Maple Ridge's Cam Neely Arena on May 24, dropping to 0-2 in the Western Lacrosse Association standings. The Burrards improved to 2-0.
Kulas finished with a hat trick and a pair of helpers while all five of Philips' points were assists. Nathaniel Kozevnikov added a pair of goals with Bailey Vanichuk completing the scoring with one goal and two assists.
Keegan Okino stopped 56 shots as Langley was outshot 69-38.
Payton Cormier's six goals and eight points and Marcus Klarich's two goals and six points led the Burrards attack with Jack Kask making 32 saves.
Up next for the Thunder is a home game on Wednesday (May 27) when they welcome the Victoria Shamrocks to Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:00pm.
