It will be more than just a lacrosse game at Queens Park Arena on Sunday, July 14.

While the New Westminster Senior Women's Salmonbellies battle the Port Moody Grizzlies on the floor, the game will serve as a fundraiser for a Bellies teammate in need.

Last month, Emily Goss -- a member of the team who has played with many of her current teammates since they were young girls -- was hit by a drunk driver while visiting friends in London, England. She remains in hospital in London.

Emily is known to play every game with a smile on her face, determined and always willing to support others, so now comes the time for others to step up and help Emily and the Goss family in this tragic time of need.

During Sunday's game, there will be raffle tickets for an assortment of amazing prizes, a toonie toss and a 50/50 draw, with proceeds going to support Emily. There is also a team-autographer Vancouver Warriors jersey set to be raffled.

In addition, the City of New Westminster is hosting a barbecue beginning at 6 p.m. and running until the end of the second period.

Donations are also being accepted to support Emily and her family.

There is also a GoFundMe for the Goss family at this link.
