Nanaimo, BC (May 29, 2017) The Langley Thunder (0-2) lost to the Nanaimo Timbermen (1-1) on Sunday night, 12-5.

Vancouver Island has not been kind to the Langley Thunder in the early part of the 2017 season. Dropping a thriller of a first game to the Shamrocks 10-9 and most recently a 12-5 decision to the Timbermen.

“I do not think we were able to execute our game plan. It is a tough travel day but I thought we came out a little bit flat,” said Head Coach Darcy Rhodes. “We have a big practice Tuesday night and the main thing is we need to prepare to battle for 60 minutes and that has to start at the first whistle.”

Offensively, the Thunder were led by Cole Shafer who had 1 goal and 3 assists. While JP Kealey scored a pair of goals to push his season tally to 5 goals, 3 assists and 8 points which is atop the Thunder leaderboard. Bryce Brochu and Andrew Gresham scored the other goals for Langley.

The Thunder now set their sights on their home opener on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 against the Maple Ridge Burrards at 7:45pm inside the Langley Events Centre. Tickets are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office at 604-882-8800 or on the Langley Thunder website.
