Hall of Famer joins Thunder coaching staff

The Langley Thunder are bolstering their bench with the addition of Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Famer Andy Ogilvie.
Ogilvie will work alongside head coach Ian Poole and offensive coach Bryan Poole as part of the Thunder’s coaching staff for the 2026 Western Lacrosse Association season. Ogilvie’s primary responsibility will be the defensive side of the ball.
“We are thrilled to welcome Andy to our coaching staff,” said Thunder President and Governor Ken Buchan. “His experience, leadership, and deep understanding of the defensive side of the game will be a tremendous asset to our group. Andy’s competitive nature and championship pedigree align perfectly with the culture we are continuing to build.”
Inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2014, Ogilvie enjoyed a long and decorated playing career. He captured three Mann Cup championships along with a Minto Cup title and built a reputation as one of the game’s toughest and most reliable defensive players. Known for his tenacity, physical play, and ability to win loose balls, Ogilvie also contributed offensively throughout his career.
Over 15 seasons in the Western Lacrosse Association, Ogilvie earned all-star honours seven times, finishing with 260 goals, 635 points, and 1,325 penalty minutes across regular season and playoff action combined. He also spent 10 seasons competing in the National Lacrosse League.
The Thunder open the 2026 WLA season when they host the Nanaimo Timbermen on May 20 at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:00pm.
