Langley loses third straight

It was a third straight loss for the Langley Thunder.
Facing the Timbermen at Nanaimo's Frank Crane Arena, Langley was on the losing end of a 12-9 score on Saturday as they saw their record slip to 3-4 in the Western Lacrosse Association standings. Nanaimo picked up its first win on the season as they are now 1-5.
Following a low-scoring opening frame -- a last-minute goal gave the Timbermen a 2-1 lead -- the team's exploded for a combined 13 goals in the middle period with the Thunder trailing 9-7. The Timbermen tacked on three more third-period goals before Langley added a pair of late strikes for the 12-9 final score.
Connor Robinson led Langley with a pair of goals and three helpers with Nathaniel Kozevnikov and Kyle Brunsch both adding two goals and two assists. Chase Scanlan (1-2), Ben Vanderkley and Jon Phillips each had a goal to round out the attack. Caleb Khan finished with 39 saves in the Thunder goal.
Langley lost despite outshooting Nanaimo 64-51 with Colby Bowman posting a .859 save percentage following his 55-save performance. Ryan Sheridan (3-3), Thomas Vaesen (2-2) and Caleb Creasor (2-0) led the Timbermen attack.
The Thunder are back in action on June 18 as they host the Maple Ridge Burrards at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:30pm. For tickets, click here.
