Milestone moment as Scanlan nets goal 100

Chase Scanlan reached a significant career milestone on Friday night, scoring his 100th career Western Lacrosse Association regular season goal — all in a Langley Thunder uniform.

Scanlan finished with a hat trick in the game, bringing his career total to 102 goals, which ties him for ninth all-time in franchise history alongside Derek Malawsky and Josh Joseph.

Since joining the Thunder in 2022, Scanlan has totaled 102 goals and 190 points in 57 regular season games, and he’s also been a standout performer in the postseason, tallying 40 goals and 107 points in just 30 WLA playoff games.

His milestone achievement was a bright spot in an otherwise tough night for the Thunder, who fell 21-9 loss to the league-leading Victoria Shamrocks at Victoria's Q Centre in WLA action.

The Shamrocks, who lead the standings at 11-2-1, showcased a relentless offensive display, scoring in rapid-fire bursts throughout the night. Victoria strung together multiple runs of unanswered goals, including stretches of three goals in 4:02, five in 4:06, six in 3:25, and two in just 51 seconds — accounting for 16 of their 21 goals in a span of only 12:20.

The teams had wrapped up a home-and-home series, with Victoria winning both matchups. Langley held the Shamrocks to just six goals in a 6-3 loss earlier in the week at Langley Events Centre, but Friday's game followed a different script.

Victoria led 4-2 after the first period before breaking the game wide open with a 12-2 second-period advantage. Both teams scored five goals apiece in the final frame.

Evan Messenger chipped in two goals and an assist for the Thunder while Jake Govett and Ethan M’Lot each had a goal and two helpers. Alex Lemieux also scored once.

For Victoria, Kyle Pepper had a huge night with seven goals and five assists. Zach Manns (3-3), Andrew Kew (3-3), and Chris Wardle (2-4)each finished with six-point performances.

With four regular season games remaining, Langley (5-9-0) sits in fifth place with 10 points, two behind the fourth and final playoff spot. The Shamrocks remain in top spot with 23 points.
