Langley, BC (July 13, 2017) The Langley Thunder (3-10) defeated the New Westminster Salmonbellies (6-6-1) on Wednesday night, 10-8.

After going down 1-0 two minutes into the game, the Thunder rallied to take a 3-1 lead after the first period. Following that, they never looked back.

Langley was without leading scorer JP Kealey, top draft pick Tyler Pace, and Captain Steve Hay. The Thunder dressed nine rookies and needed four junior call ups to fill out their roster. Cole Shafer led the way scoring 2 goals and 3 assists, James Rahe had 1 goal and 3 assists and call ups Nathan McKeigan, Ryan Martel and Nathaniel Kozevnikov all had points in the victory.

“I thought the call ups all had great games, it is nice to have four quality players come up from the junior team and fit so well,” said Head Coach Darcy Rhodes. “The thing that impressed me the most, was how we finished off the game. Over the last five games we have really finished the games hard and our young team is really coming together."

The evening was a victory on and off the floor. Langley wore their special third jerseys and had been auctioning them off throughout the week and raised $3,400 for the Tessa Beauchamp Foundation.

Langley visits the sixth placed Coquitlam Adanacs (4-7) on Saturday night and play the Maple Ridge Burrards (9-4) on Tuesday night. The Thunder are back home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 when they host the Nanaimo Timbermen (4-8). Tickets to the game are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office at 604-882-8800 or on the Langley Thunder website
