Langley, BC (May 26, 2017) The Langley Thunder (0-1) visit the Nanaimo Timbermen (0-1) on Sunday night inside the Frank Crane Arena at 7:00pm.

The Thunder look to get on the winning track after dropping their first game of the season to Victoria. Game 1 looked like it was headed to overtime after the Thunder fought back to tie the game late in the third, but with literally seconds to go in the game the Shamrocks scored the would-be game winner.

Langley was led by newcomer JP Kealey who scored 3 goals and 3 assists in his debut. Right behind him was Bryce Brochu who scored 2 goals and 3 assists and James Rahe who scored 2 goals and 2 assists in the season opener.

“We have a specific game plan that we need to follow which includes staying disciplined and becoming more comfortable with the routine and work on our chemistry,” said Head Coach Darcy Rhodes. “I think most importantly we need to outwork the other team, especially in the loose ball category.”

The Thunder will have nine rookies in the lineup travelling to the Island. They will be without 2017 draft picks Tyler Pace (Denver), Johnny Pearson (Ohio State) and Aidan Milburn (RIT) who are all competing the in the NCAA Final Four.

“We have a very young talented and exciting team this year,” said Captain Steve Hay. “Even without the result, I think last week’s game gave us some early confidence and our coaches had us working hard all week. We are already a tight group and these trips to the island will help us become a stronger team.”

The Langley Thunder host their home opener on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 against the Maple Ridge Burrards at 7:45pm inside the Langley Events Centre. Tickets are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office at 604-882-8800 or on the Langley Thunder website.
