Langley, BC (June 20, 2017) The Langley Thunder (0-6) host to the New Westminster Salmonbellies (3-3) on Wednesday night, at 7:45pm inside the Langley Events Centre.

Wednesday’s game is the beginning of back-to-backs between the two clubs. The Thunder host game one, while Thursday night the action shifts to Queen’s Park Arena.

The Salmonbellies offense has gone through the stick of Mitch Jones, who has 11 goals and 10 assists in the first seven games of the season, while Logan Schuss has 6 goals and 15 assists in five games. New Westminster is currently riding a three-game unbeaten streak after defeating Nanaimo and Coquitlam and most recently tying the Victoria Shamrocks.

Meanwhile, the Thunder are led by JP Kealey who has 11 goals and 9 assists in six games as well as James Rahe and Bryce Brochu who both have 14 points.

“The boys are going to play for each other, and they are improving with every game and every practice,” said Head Coach Darcy Rhodes. “The game plan is simple, we need to focus on winning the one-on-one battles and controlling what we can control during the game.”

Langley has the second best powerplay in the WLA striking at 39% although they have been given the league’s minimum amount of powerplay opportunities this season. The Thunder are tied for third in the league with three shorthanded goals for.
