Ahead of the upcoming Western Lacrosse Association season, the Langley Thunder welcomed nine new faces to the team via the WLA Draft back in February. Here's a look at the first of our new additions, forward Thomas Vaesen.

How Long Have You Played: Since I was 6 years old

What Do You Love About the Sport: The physicality, the high intensity, the level of competition. Honestly, I love everything about the game.

If Not Lacrosse, What Sport Would You Play: Hockey. I played it when I was younger and loved it and it’s quite similar.

How Would You Describe Your Game: Aggressive. I like to do what I can to push the pace and make sure the offense is productive.

Short-term Goals: Have a strong WLA season.

Long-term Goals: Win a Mann Cup and an NLL championship and become an offensive threat in both leagues.

Favourite Player Growing Up: I watched a lot of great players growing up and had many favourites, but I really enjoyed watching Rhys Duch.

Who Do You Model Your Game After: I’ve tried to model my game after a lot of guys, one of them being Dane Dobbie, who I now have a chance to play alongside.

Jersey Number and its Significance: I wear the number 16 and I wear it because it was my dad’s number.

Greater Feeling – Big Goal, Big Hit or Winning a Loose-ball battle: Definitely a big goal.

Favourite Food: Chicken and sushi.
