Langley, BC (February 8, 2018)
With the 1st overall pick in the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA), the Langley Thunder drafted Connor Robinson.

Robinson a high-level scorer finished his final BCJALL season with a league high 50 goals, 80 assists and 130 points in 20 games. Over the course of his 5-year BCJALL career he scored 176 goals, 268 assists and 444 points in 96 games.

“This is something I have been working towards for my whole life,” said Connor Robinson. “It is a huge honor and I am excited to play against the best in British Columbia.”

The Thunder were not finished in the first round as they took Eli Salama at 5th and Preston Lupul at 7th. It was a quick turnaround for Langley as they had the first pick in the second round where they took Kai McDonald.

After a busy first two rounds, the Thunder had to wait 12 more picks before they back on the board. With the 21st overall pick in the 3rd round, Langley took Brandon Del Grosso. Langley did not have a pick in the 4th round and next selected Junior Thunder alum Jake Sundar with the 29th overall pick.

Langley rounded out their final three picks with Shawn Richardson at 36th overall in the 6th round, Stephane Charbonneau 43rd overall in the 7th round and Patrick Szabo 50th overall in the 8th round to conclude the 2018 WLA Draft.

“Connor Robinson is a very special talent and we are extremely excited to have him call Langley Events Centre home for his WLA career. He plays with grit and heart, but he is also very humble and down to earth which makes him a great teammate. We are looking forward to having a front row seat to watch him take his game to the next level,” said General Manager Rob Buchan. “We set ourselves up nicely with multiple picks in the first round and we put a focus on strengthening our back end, overall we are very happy with the results and we are looking forward to seeing each of these men wearing black and blue for years to come.”

The Thunder will open the 2018 season at home against the Burnaby Lakers on May 23, 2018 inside Langley Events Centre. Stay up-to-date with all breaking news and ticketing information on www.LangleyThunder.com.
