Thunder Pick Up Taylor

by Trevor McManus

Langley, BC (April 5, 2017)  Just a few weeks before the start of the 2017 Western Lacrosse Association’s regular season, the Langley Thunder added defenseman Jacob Taylor.

Langley sent their third-round pick in the 2019 WLA draft, Connor Stroup and Tor Reinholt to the Coquitlam Adanacs in return for Jacob Taylor.

Taylor was originally drafted in the 2nd round (14th overall) in the 2017 WLA Entry Draft. He has appeared in 76 games in the BCJALL where he has scored 29 goals, 59 assists and 88 points. He is also coming off a Minto Cup Championship in 2016. With the acquisition, the Thunder now have eight of the top fourteen players who were drafted in 2017.

“I was disappointed not to secure Jacob in the 2017 WLA draft. The next day I went to work trying to rectify the situation,” said General Manager Rob Buchan. “Jake is a Langley kid who belongs in a Thunder jersey. The same could be said about Connor Stroup who was a lifelong Adanac player and we felt good about him going back to his home club.”

The Langley Thunder open their regular season with a pair of road games. The season opener is on Friday, May 19, 2017 against the Victoria Shamrocks. They return to the island against the Nanaimo Timbermen on Sunday, May 28, 2017. The Thunder’s Home Opener is on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 against the Maple Ridge Burrards at 7:45pm inside the Langley Events Centre. Tickets are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office at 604-882-8800 or on Langley Thunder website.
