Thunder, Lakers kick off 2025 season
The Langley Thunder and Burnaby Lakers kick off the 2025 Western Lacrosse Association season on May 21 (Wednesday) night at Langley Events Centre.
It marks the first game of the season and marks a busy stretch of four games over the first three days with the New Westminster Salmonbellies hosting the Nanaimo Timbermen at Queen's Park Arena on May 22, followed a pair of Friday (May 23) night games with the Burnaby Lakers hosting the Coquitlam Adanacs at Bill Copeland Arena and the Maple Ridge Burrards travelling to Victoria's Q Centre to face the Shamrocks.
WLA teams will play an 18-game regular season schedule followed by August playoffs, with the league champion hosting the Mann Cup in September against the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) Champions from Ontario. All games will be live-streamed and fans can purchase single games or 5-game packages on wlalacrosse.com for $9.95 and $39.95 respectively, however, for fans that purchase 5-game packs prior to June 1, they can do so for just $34.95.
“The WLA saw increases in attendance, live streams, and social media engagement in 2024 and we look forward to capitalizing on that momentum and continuing to grow our fan base in 2025,” said WLA Commissioner, Paul Dal Monte.

The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) is an amateur men’s Senior A box lacrosse league, sanctioned by Lacrosse Canada. The WLA consists of seven teams based in cities throughout southwestern British Columbia, playing an 18-game schedule from late May to the end of July. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the right to compete against the Major Series Lacrosse (Ontario) champion for the Mann Cup. The championship is hosted alternately between Ontario and British Columbia every September.
