Thunder close 2026 campaign

The Langley Thunder closed out the 2026 Western Lacrosse Association season with a 5-4 loss.

The Thunder hosted the Coquitlam Adanacs in the regular-season finale on Wednesday night at Langley Events Centre. The playoff-bound Adanacs improved to 12-6 while Langley finished the campaign at 4-14.

Langley entered the season with high hopes, but injuries contributed to a slow start as the Thunder opened 2-6. One of the team's marquee off-season additions, local product Chase Fraser, did not play a game because of injury.

“Injuries are part of the game. We’d obviously love to have everyone available, but that’s not the reality of sports,” said Langley coach Ian Poole. “The guys who are healthy have to be ready when their number is called, and that’s how you build depth as a team.”

Despite winning just four games over the course of the season, there were positives to build on: two of those victories came against the top teams in the league, one each against first-place Victoria and second-place Maple Ridge.

Another bright spot was the Thunder's special teams. Langley finished with the WLA's top penalty kill at 73.1 percent while its power play ranked third at 40.3 percent.

“With injuries, younger players get valuable experience and meaningful minutes they might not have otherwise, and that's only going to help this team in the long run,” he said. “You can't replicate game experience in practice, and some of these guys got bigger opportunities to show what they can do.”

Dante Kulas and Connor Watson finished tied for the team lead with 22 goals each. Kulas also led the Thunder with 28 assists and 50 points, while Watson ranked second with 37 points.

In Wednesday’s finale, Caleb Khan – a call-up from Langley’s Junior A program – made 42 saves on 47 shots while Watson had a goal and two helpers. Kulas and Jake Govett scored once apiece while another call-up, Austin Vanichuk, also tallied once.

Clark Walter, Kean Moon, Reid Hinds-MacDonald, Carter Cook, and Laszlo Henning each scored once for the Adanacs with Andrew Gallant stopping 24 of the 27 Langley shots.
