Thunder close season with Fan Appreciation Night

by Gary Ahuja

The Langley Thunder are all set to wrap up their 2018 Western Lacrosse Association season on Fan Appreciation Night.

The Thunder (6-10-1, 13 points) host the Burnaby Lakers (6-9-1, 13 points) on July 25 at Langley Events Centre in a battle for fifth place in the WLA. The game begins at 7:30 p.m.

Both senior A lacrosse teams have already been eliminated from post-season contention and the game is the second half of a home-and-home series which saw the Lakers prevail 16-14.

Connor Robinson and Tyler Pace each had career-high games for Langley in the defeat, potting three goals and seven points apiece. JP Kealey also had a hat trick, part of a five-point performance, and is tied for fourth in the WLA with 32 goals in 15 games.

Cole Shafer (one goal, two assists), Eli Salama (one goal, one assist) and Aidan Milburn (one goal, one assist) also had multi-point games.

The Thunder finished the road portion of their 18-game schedule with a 1-8 mark away from the LEC. But at home, Langley has been a different team, going 5-2-1 overall, including 4-0-1 in their past five games.

As part of Fan Appreciation Night, there will be several giveaways for those in attendance, including vouchers to Jugo Juice, A&W, The Chopped Leaf and Kernels and one fan will win an A&W gift basket. As well, one lucky fan will win a pair of 2019 Thunder Season Tickets and an autographed Thunder jersey.
