Thunder ready to battle Burrards
The Langley Thunder close out a four-game home-stand tonight as they welcome the league-leading Maple Ridge Burrards to Langley Events Centre in Senior A Western Lacrosse Association action.
The Burrards enter the game with a 5-1 mark while Langley looks to snap a three-game losing streak and build on their 1-4 mark as they will officially hit the one-third point of the 18-game season following tonight’s match-up.
But it won’t be an easy task as they take on the defending WLA champions who enter the game allowing a league-low 5.83 goals against per game as well as the top-ranked penalty kill unit (77.42 per cent success rate).
Langley is led by Connor Robinson, who has eight goals and 18 points through five games while rookie Brad McCulley has notched seven goals and 13 points through his first five career WLA games.
Mike Mallory leads not only Maple Ridge in scoring but the entire league thanks to 14 goals and 27 points. The Burrards also boast the league’s top goaltender with Frank Scigliano posting an impressive 5.30 goals against average and an .883 save percentage.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
