Thunder set for Shamrock showdown

The Langley Thunder return the friendly confines of Langley Events Centre hoping to get back in the win column.

The senior A lacrosse team hosts the Victoria Shamrocks on Wednesday night (June 6) with the game set to get underway at 7 p.m. Both teams sport identical 1-2 records in Western Lacrosse Association play.

Langley’s last game saw JP Kealey score three goals and six points in a 10-8 loss on the road in Coquitlam. He leads all Thunder scorers with seven goals and a dozen points but his team has dropped two straight contests.

Victoria has also followed the same season trajectory, winning their opener before suffering back-to-back defeats.

The Shamrocks are led by the seven goals and 17 points of Jesse King while Casey Jackson has nine goals and 16 points.

To snap out of their slide, the Thunder need to take the initiative, said Head Coach Rod Jensen.

“We need to initiate and be more aggressive in terms of dictating the play on our terms. We have been sitting back and reacting to our opponents instead of initiating what we want to do,” he said.
