Western Lacrosse Association Commissioner's Message 2022

by Gary Ahuja

Welcome back to WLA lacrosse! We’re excited to have our players back on the floor and our amazing fans back in the stands. And we’re delighted that our 2022 season opener is being broadcast across BC thanks to our partners at CHEK TV.

We continue to work to improve our game and our fan experience, and this season, you will see the adoption of several new rules designed to increase the speed and excitement of our game.

You will also notice a refreshed design on league and team websites, and an increased presence on social media, making it easier for you to connect with your favourite players and teams. Special thanks to our new web and social media coordinators, Jake Richardson and Maki Jenner.

Lacrosse is the Creator’s Game and Canada’s original national sport, and we will continue to do our part to Grow the Legend. Our players are the very best in the world and our fans are, without a doubt, among the most loyal and passionate. I thank you for your continuing support for WLA lacrosse and encourage you to stay connected with your favourite players and teams through our webcasts, social media channels and our website, wlalacrosse.com. You can also watch live webcasts of all our regular season games via PlayFullScreen on our website.

As our teams get back on the floor and prepare to challenge for the Mann Cup in Ontario this September, I extend my best wishes to the Burnaby Lakers, Coquitlam Adanacs, Langley Thunder, Maple Ridge Burrards, Nanaimo Timbermen, New Westminster Salmonbellies and Victoria Shamrocks as they embark on their first season since the start of the pandemic.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank our officials, both on- and off-floor, and volunteers for the countless hours and tireless commitment they dedicate to The Legendary Game of Canada.

I look forward to seeing you at the arena.
