WLA Statement on Iroquois Nationals

by Gary Ahuja

The Western Lacrosse Association strongly supports the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Iroquois Nationals team, and their inclusion in the upcoming 2022 World Games in the sport of lacrosse.

We recognize that there is a great deal of complexity around how decisions are made with regard to entry into international sporting competition, however we are steadfast in our belief that given the history of the Iroquois Nationals, and the history and heritage of the great game we are privileged to be able to play, there is no legitimate reason to exclude the Haudenosaunee from independent competition on the world stage.

The member teams and staff of the Western Lacrosse Association are proud to participate in the continuing history of the game of lacrosse, and will continue to contribute time, effort, and resources toward the discussion in support of greater participation in the game of lacrosse internationally.
