Robinson latest to join 100-goal club
Captain Connor Robinson hit a milestone Saturday night, scoring his 100th regular season goal in a Langley Thunder uniform.
Since being selected first overall by the Thunder in the 2018 Western Lacrosse Association Junior Draft, Robinson has totalled 101 goals and 254 points in 71 regular season games for Langley. He ranks 11th all-time for the Thunder organization in goals, and seventh in both assists and points.
Robinson also scored four times and finished with 10 points as a junior call-up for New Westminster (2015-2016) and added another seven goals and 23 points with Victoria after his CLA playing rights were traded to the Shamrocks for the 2019 season, giving him 112 goals and 287 points in the WLA regular season.
He also has 30 playoff games with the Thunder, accumulating 56 goals, 62 assists and 118 points in 30 games.
Robinson’s milestone marker came on the power play late in the first period during a 12-11 loss to the Coquitlam Adanacs at Poirier Sports Complex, finishing the game with two goals and four helpers. The loss leaves Langley with a record of 5-11-0 and 10 points, two back of the fourth and final playoff spot.
Chase Scanlan – who reached the 100-goal regular season plateau himself earlier this month – led Langley with four goals and six points while Ethan M’Lot also matched both players’ six-point efforts. Kordell Primus added a pair of goals with Finn Halladay (1-2) and Kyle Brunsch (1-1) scoring the others. Caleb Khan made 36 saves.
James Rahe led the Adanacs with four goals and an assist with David Charney scoring two goals and three assists. Andrew Gallant finished with 45 saves as Langley outshot Coquitlam 56-48.
Coquitlam leads the WLA with a record of 13-2-1 and 27 points.
The Thunder were also in action the night before, falling 11-4 to the Burnaby Lakers at Bill Copeland Arena. M’Lot led Langley with a pair of goals and an assist with Jon Phillips and Zayden Blake each scoring once. Nate Faccin stopped 48 of 59 shots.
Ben MacDonald and Sam La Roue each scored twice for the Lakers, who pulled even with the Thunder at 5-11-0 and 10 points as the teams are tied for fifth place, though Langley holds the tiebreaker having won the season series 2-1.
Up next for the Thunder are the final two games of the regular season as they play a home-and-home series with the Salmonbellies. The teams play at Langley Events Centre on July 23 (7:30pm) on the Thunder’s annual Tessa Beauchamp Night, where they auction off special game-worn jerseys with proceeds benefiting the Tessa Beauchamp Foundation.
